چکیده

Development of various multimedia applications is dependent on the availability of fast and eecient storage, browsing, indexing, and retrieval techniques. Given that video is stored eeciently in a compressed format, the costly overhead of decompression can be avoided by analyzing the compressed representation directly. In this paper, we describe techniques that can be used to extract viable features for indexing shots of video directly from the compressed domain. We develop a type independent representation of frames present in an MPEG video and show how it can be used for directly for indexing.

Compressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard

Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...

Fast and eecient storage, indexing, browsing, and retrieval of video is a necessity for the development of various multimedia database applications. This can be achieved by analyzing the video directly in the compressed domain, thereby avoiding the overhead of decompressing video into individual frames in the pixel domain. Our compressed domain parsing of video performs shot change detection an...

Indexing and Retrieval of MPEG Compressed Video

To keep pace with the increased popularity of digital video as an archival medium, the development of techniques for fast and eecient analysis of video streams is essential. In particular, solutions to the problems of storing, indexing, browsing, and retrieving video data from large multimedia databases are necessary to allow access to these collections. Given that video is often stored eecient...
